I fished it twice about 18 months ago and would not go back.

The platforms on the original lakes are too close together and the "large" lake is a sham. Its a figure of 8 with 2 huge islands in the middle. More like a figure of 8 canal about 15 yards wide. I caught 11 fish in about 1.5 hours. Monotonous.

link to the fishing report http://www.flyforums.co.uk/english-s...-durham-5.html. but iv went a few times when fishing was horrific and had talked to countless anglers and all of them said they havnt caught buggar all in weeks because of hot temps and the fishing reports in the paper said the rod averages were 4.5 or something iv always had a suspicion they make it up when fishing is rubbish otherwise the place would be empty! hopefully some regulars can tell us how its fishing i should going in the next few days.

nWL publish plenty of stats...ask the warden in the shop

bay of plenty is fishing bets for fly anglers...intermediates with a lure for this time of year

its a drive though once you have signed in, right round the reservoir, you could walk it but would take aaaaages

Click the image to open in full size.

the bay of plentry is the large inlet on the north shore...the long straigh bank above the yachting club is good as well.again on the north bank to the west of the bay of plenty...nwl have a pdf guide with a more detailed map.

http://www.nwl.co.uk/NW_fishing_guide_2011.pdf

and personally..I prefer Hury to Derwent if I was fishing a big north east water..if its windy at derwent, and it frequently is it can limit the fishing (and I think the any method bank already limits the fishing)

Hury is big but still accessible and both banks fish well, and because of its more upland setting the fish are usually close enough to the bank looking for food to make it a comfortable cast.
