Default Mild Wind

Hi for my river trout fishing I usually use a 8ft 6" 4#,but tend to struggle with even a mild wind .Do you think 9ft 5# would be better in mild wind or wound it not make much difference thanks Dave.

Hello dave, if your using a d/t 4 try a d/t 5 on your 8.5 rod before you think of a longer rod. if you can fish both banks try placing yourself where the breeze is going over your cast arm so then can help. if it is a wide river a w/f 5 can be better too, or if only a big stream try roll cast. fishing dry fly up stream i use a shorter leader and this sometimes help too. anyway good luck happy fishing.

As stated ,why not try a 5# on your 8'6'' rod.The ratings are not written in stone.Far from it.

Methinks you have a head problem, not a tackle problem.and too much cash.
