I am at a total ****ing loss as to why floats (ect.) cause such a big deal. Mind blowing waste of time use one or not... the sun will still come up, birds will sing and fast food will still be ****

I'm not against them (here we go again), I'm just getting tired of the continual threads being started with the same questions, the same answers, the same arguments, so I compiled a wee list of past threads; this is not another debate thread....honestly

I'm still waiting for some objective pros and cons... from both sides. It seems that people that fish with them, don't know why they do, and the people that don't fish with them, dont know why they don't. There isn;t a single post with any reasonably decent information to justify either side.

Gary, do you have a spare 1'2 hour to do a DT Vs WF ?

Maybe we could get admin to make both threads sticky.

Andre, I don't think it is as clear cut as all that bungs area bit like Marmite.

As with may thinks in fly fishing its a matter of opinion.

But here is the two ways that I use them.

1. Teaching beginners to nymph in rough broken water as it can be difficult to see takes just using the flyline as an indicator in these conditions.

2. Fishing a team of buzzers on a windy day, cast in to the wind make a big down wind mend then let the wind carry your line down wind in a big sweeping arc. The indicator help as it is pushed along by the wind and it also help spot takes when you have a big arc of line on the water and a bit if surface chop.

The only con I can think of is people think you are float fishing but that's thier problem not yours
