They do!

Bit of lateral thinking maybe required here.

It is a genuine picture taken today by myself and witnessed by another forum member.

I was surprised nevertheless - hence the photo and post.

Maybe some diseased or injured fish are in the water - just a thought

In competitions you are often forced to kill and weigh-in a certain number of fish. Many anglers don't know what to do their surplus fish. I have often seen a plastic dust bin placed near the weighing-in point to collect unwanted fish.

On fisheries the day ticket entitles the angler to take so many fish. Often a caught fish is knocked on the head and the angler then catches a much bigger fish. He may only want one so the smaller fish is surplus to requirements.

These are only some thoughts on the matter

its not something iv seen before, but have seen times it would have been a good idea, ie, after comps and the fishery manager is left with limit bags all over the place.............................

Well I don't know for sure but I am guessing Black Knight may be closest. This fishery is basically a C&R venue (they do have a kill ticket) but they insist on the first fish being slain. This policy ensures a turnover of fish in the lake as you would expect. Now, not everyone wants a fish and so the fishery I am guessing has had issues with fish being dumped around the site and therefore have decided that a more organised disposal system is necessary. If I am wrong on that I'll get back. But definetly the first sign of it's kind I've seen.

Each year I enter a few beach/shore fishing contests and exactly the same happens. Plazi bin next to the weighing in point.
