Default Feathered poacher at Heatheryford

Had a few hours with my son at Heatheryford today (or is it Kinross fishery these days).
The wee man had his 3 fish limit no bother and lost 3 or 4 but what made the day for us was the sight of an Osprey making off with a trout.
Never seen one up there before.

It's probably the same one which frequents Balado too; never seen it myself but will ensure my camera's with me next time there.

Well done to your Son Scobo, what did he get them on?

Gary

Er,powerbait although he did get one on a goldhead damsel when I let him have a go of my fly rod.
I've heard people say they've seen Ospreys at Loch Glow too so there may be a pair nesting in the area.
Didn't have my camera with me, isn't it always the way !

Nowt wrong with a little glitter powerbait, I find it difficult keeping it on the hook during false casting though

Didn't actually see it dive down for the fish but saw it fly overhead with the fish in it's tallons.
It came back again within half an hour, had a good look above one of the pools then flew off again.

there are a pair that nest fairly close to Kinross but obviously those who are in the know are asked not to disclose of info in case poachers over hear.
but the pair that nest up at loch of Lowes fly down to Leven for there fish. so could be either of the pairs or both.

wander if i will see it tomorrow when i am up ( i doubt it lol ) as i will have my camera with me.
i usually blank when i have my camera with me as well.

If all else fails, have a few casts in the smallest pool.
Trust me, you won't blank
