Default Going fishing but where?

Hello everyone,

Pritty new to fly fishing and me and my mate are going out next week for a days fishing but wanted some advice on where is good around the Fife area.
We are looking at either the Golden loch, Raith lake or swanswater. Is there any other venues that we could look at? and what do you think is the best fishery out of these three? Looking to have a go on a boat so thats why I have looked at these places.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I havent fished the first two, but have had a few trips to swanswater, the boats on swanswater (the main pond) can't be drifted, there are four or five bouys, that you can tie on to and fish from the boat statically, theres always a spare buoy so you can move if that particular spot is not fishing well.

It offers imho a lot for beginners, three different ponds, which is useful to novices, if the wind kicks up in the main pool (Swanswater) you can usually find some escape from it, down on the smaller ponds (Millpond and Meadow pond) there is also an un-official sort of forth pool you can fish (escapees from the main pond)

Prices are reasonable, and you can usually get sound advice from the locals there.

Best luck, whichever venue you choose.

Jim

Swanswater is your best bet, nice fish, a various different types of fish and a mix of ponds, if you are novice I'd try the Mil pond and the Meadow pond, I've bagged up on these on numerous occasions, actually I bagged up in 30mins on the mill pond fishing a camasunary killer, hgope this help.

Swanswater could not really be considered to be close to Fife. What about Lochore meadows, Linlithgow, Millhall,Beecraigs.all have boats.or Balado.which is near Kinross or the new refurbished Kinross fishery.
If you just want to catch fish then it has to be Beecraigs,it's stuffed with fish.
As you are inexperienced I have omitted Loch leven.

How is Beecraigs fishing these days, ive heard that its gone downhill since they closed their fish farm but dont know if this is right or not? My mate and i were thinking of going there in a couple of weeks but dont want to if its not up to much anymore.

Thanks for all the information so far guys,

Grayling/Jim

To be honest I had only heard of Lochore Meadows on that list of fisherys and I heard that it was not the best place for fishing anymore but that could be wrong. Thanks for the information on these and I will try to get round them all this season to see what they are like. Beecraigs does look nice but I think I will wait to hear if it has changed before booking.

Anymore information that anyone has would be great as I need all the details that I can get in connection with places to go this season.

Thanks
