Default What's in your box?

Hi folks,

What's in your fly box for early season fishing on both the river & lakes?

Cheers

Simon

been doing really well on small buzzers(size 18!!) with a tungsten bead head in black, orange and olive. fished really slow on a floating line, also tied a few with etherfoam heads, fished on the top with similar results.

Only fish stillwater so minkies, foam beetles, just bought some poppers, PT nymphs. To be honest the list is very long as I tie many different types of flies in small amounts. Probably be easier to take a picture of my box

Black & silver buzzers weighted and so on, black gnats dry and wet.
Hare's ears weighted and so on, ptns again weighted and so on.

By weighted and so on I mean bead heads.

Stillwaters and reservoirs - Don't underestimate the power of green and black. For some reason it works. I have had success on a humungus with fluoro green body, black tail and grizzle hackle as far as a lure is concerned.

Rivers - i'm not best placed to comment but large Dark Olives and March Browns seem to be the ones to imitate and has been said klinkhammers with a nymph under seems a popular method.

Fished stillwaters over the last week and had good success with Damsels/sink tip line and also with black Buzzers/floating line & indicator.

cheers Diarmid.

It's quite interesting to see the regional variations across the nation, I do need to get some black spiders, gnats & the like in my box though.

Orange lures for stillwaters, Blobs and Nomads especially. Also small buzzers (size 14 & 16) with an indicator.
