Considering the cost, I feel like I'm playing with house money now on the LL Beans.
Overall, I'm a big fan of waist highs and have been for years because most of the streams and spring creeks here do not justify chest highs. Also, for warm weather summer use they are fantastic because I can wear shorts underneath and therefore I get the protection of toursers, but they are still very cool.
I hate the old school thigh-highs, I'm always in right up to the tops, they are uncomfortable and heavy.
I probably wear waist highs for 90% of my trout fishing now. I discovered that I very rarely do any deep sea wading and as far as the occasional river crossings go, if you look at waist highs they are actually a bit higher than a trouser waist is. Hike them up and they are actually only a few inches shorter than chest highs as far as the actual water height you can stand in.
