Default Bristol Based Beginner

Got a friend I've taken fishing a couple of times who lives in Winterbourne Bristol (North of the centre). He wants to continue to go but needs somewhere close to him, cheap and with a fair chance of catching to get started.

I've looked at Jacklands but was hoping you guy's can help. Can anyone please advise.

Thanks

Brownsville and VGB + a few others could point you in the right direction, they'll be along later.

Dave Wilstshire is the man, if you're after some formal help http://www.riverflybox.co.uk/fly%20c...%20header.html .

Never fished Jacklands but I understand it can be expensive. I'll be at Barrow Tanks one day most weekends, £14.50 for 8 fish or catch and release, just turn up and pay.

If he can catch there it will stand him in good stead on any other stillwater. It isn't easy but much more rewarding, especially if you do catch, than fishing a pond.

I'd certainly be willing to show him the ropes, provide flies etc, and do my best to put him on fish.

Redmond

Reading into your post, I am guessing a small stillwater is where you want to start. Here's a few to consider:

Where to Fish

Knowle Angling

As mentioned by STD, if you want professional help, Dave Wiltshire is excellent.
