Default Novice or what !

Hi Guys,

I'm a real novice to fly fishing although I have coarse fished for a lifetime.
I am about to venture out on my first session on Saturday to a reservoir in Northamptonshire were I will be bank fishing. My thoughts are to try Buzzers, Nymphs and Shrimps but I am a little confused as to the lines to use. For the shrimps and nymph fishing I plan to use an intermediate line to let the flies get down however for the buzzer fishing a floating line to try to catch just below the surface due to the recent warm weather. Am I on the right line ?
Your comments would be much appreciated. also has anyone a tip for threading the flyline into a braided loop ! I cant get the bloody things started.

Thanks in advance Guys.

Which reservoir Derek ?

I would tend to go for a black/green or white/green lure, slowish retrieve for early season bank fishing. Floater, sink tip or intermediate.

Nymphs may work but more chance of that as the water warms up a bit. I sometimes start on lures and switch to nymphs later in the day this time of year.
