A sinking line is a different animal and sinks through it's entire length to get flies really deep, use in reservoirs etc,but again doesn't exactly enhance your casting. It really depends on what type of water you are fishing and how deep you think you need to fish.
Good luck & tight lines!

There's a few things in here that I dont agree with.
Sinking lines cast really well.because of the weight in a thin line.
Hi Di sinking lines get your flies really deep quickly.from the bank.in a moving boat they might fish only a couple of feet under the suface in a big wind.
A slow sinking line does exactly what it says.''sinks slowly''
There are many types of sink tips 3'-5'-9'-12'-15'.slow sink-med sink-fast sink-Hi Di.They all have their uses and I use most of them. Some are reserved for river fishing for Salmon/Seatrout
