Default Neath River

Hello all
Ive just joined the Neath and Dulais angling club,so i popped up there today for a look.Having not fished there for a few years, its changed a fair bit(Abergarwed area),i was abit disappointed to be honest.
Does anyone know this area and how it fishes,or are there any other places i should fish along this stretch?.I prefer to fish for brown trout, but i did take a few sewen the last time i was there.
Thank you

Gareth

the River Neath is a prolifick river for sea trout and salmon from what i have heard on the lower stretches but i have fished the upper neath river with the glynneath angling club for £35 a season but there are nearlly no wild brown trout in the main river but a lot in the upper tribs aswell as sea trout and salmon

Hi, I used to fish the Neath at Resolven from Ynysharwood Farm, many years ago. There weren't any wild browns in there then. But, there were some awesome Sewin running.

I used to fish from the Three falls to the Dulias Rock, which was fantastic.

Best regards

Stuart

Thx for the replys lads.
The last time i fished was about 5 years ago,i used to catch what i thought were small brown trout regularly, about 6-10 inches.Perhaps they were salmon parr? not sure.
I started fishing for sewen the last few months i had on the river, with dry flies, late evenin it was great fun,so perhaps i should get geared towards that......Thanks again

Gareth

Hi, Im in the same boat as you, I fished the river Neath for all my life up untill i discoverd alcohol and women, Now after a 6 year break and alot of growing up ive rejoined this year . I went out last week i could not believe how much the river had changed. I fish the river from rhys's yard down to calor gas pool and the strech has changed so much. I only went out for a few hours so only tried a few pools, Not only did i blank, i didnt even see a fish ! hopefully they were just being shy because the sun was so high and bright in the sky and the water is still very cold ( thats my excuss anyway). Im going to try and get out this weekend work permiting hopefully it will be productive but if not its still nice to be back on the river where i spent most my childhood.

Ryan

Does anyone know anything about the situation which is going on with the pollution in the river Neath today. Was there any fish kill etc as it would be shame considering the clubs have put so much hard work in the past years bringing the salmon and sewin stocks back up.
