Default Greys 9" or 9"6 which one?

Good Afternoon All;Could you please give me some impartial advice on the Greys fly rods.I already own a 10" #6 GRXI.I am wanting to purchase another one,but more suited to boat fishing. Is there much difference between the 9" and the 9"6 in a #6,and does 6 inch make that much difference?.
Many Thanks.
Pete.

I would say the 10ft your useing as fine for boat work so you can fish slightly longer leaders.
I fish 10ft platinum xd 8wt for all but dries and fine nymphs.
Im sure someone will be on to give you all the pro's and cons.

Cheers Craig

HI draycote flyer, thanks for that,it's just that last weekend i had 3 hours on a boat for the first time and i was told that you do not need to cast too far,so i thought that's why most boat anglers use smaller rods.Me and my mate mitch have booked a boat for all day tomorrow at thornton, and we are very much looking forward to it.
Thanks pete.

Stick with the 10 footer for the boats. It helps you hanging the flies and also gives you extra help in getting the flies over a boat partner's head (or your own!)

Why are you getting another 10' 6#?
Why not get a 10' 7# to add to your armour?

Does this mean you will now become 4rodpete?

Hi Chris, never thought about 10' 7#.I was thinking along the lines of one set up for say floating line and the other inter/sink line.I have 2 grxi reels,so with 8 spools i could change as needs be.
I won't become 4rodpete,i will give one of my rods to someone starting up.
cheers pete.

10' 7# is my choice of rod for boat work and I wouldn't change it. Why not see if there is anyone who would do you a rod swap?
Chris

Hi Chris,my other 2 rods are flextec, good beginner rods, now that i have a grxi,it suits my needs. As i progress i will keep updating my rods.
This is probably a silly question, but why can't i put 7# line on a 6# spool?.After all the reel is there to only hold your line, isn't it?.
cheers pete.
