Last season I caught a brownie on the dry, and when I brought it to the net, the fly had passed through the eyeball from the inside.
I thought I was going to have to kill it, as I couldn't think of a way of removing it without hurting it, there was no blood at all.
A moment later it slipped from my hand, and when I brought it back again, the fly had come back through, and was firmly in the upper lip.

Not a drop of blood, popped the fish back, no damage at all.
