Default loch leven

i have only been fly fishing for 2 years now, and the missus has said she will get me a days fishing on loch leven as a birthday present.

myquestions are as follows....

i usually fish small waters and use a 6wt outfit. would that be suitable?

and if so...

where do i find fish on such a large water?

AND am i punching above my weight and should leave this type of fishing untill im more experienced?

Default Loch Leven

Not at all Bob. I took my Nephew out last season for his first trip on the loch and he has only been fishing for 2 seasons himself. The trick is knowing when to go and what to fish with. Willie theGillie at the boat house will give you the nod on what going on and where to fish. Last season from April through to the end of June the fish were hard on buzzers and if the water clarity is as good as last year then i see it being exactly the the same as last year. Try to get a mid week boat because you will struggle to get a weekend one this season and try to pick you're day if posssible and don't be affriad if the suns out you can still catch fish. Fishing the loch is an experiance in its self and it not just about catching fish just being there is enough form me. Try to get someone who knows the loch to go out with you.

Best of luck.

Graeme.
