Default Snowbee XS

Hi ppl, Can any1 give me their verdict on Snowbee XS fly line. I Fish alot of reservoirs for brown and rainbow trout. I'd be looking to purchase a wf7 for my 10ft w7/8 Sonik SK4 fly rod. Cheers.

I fish that line. It's a cracker. Stays afloat right to the tip (with a Greys loop sealed with a dab of varnish stopping the braid core wicking up water). It is pricy though it is also lasting well.

they are a good line (though personally I don't think they are as good as they used to be)

and when you look at the lines you can get from Mike Barrio or Pitsford Pirate on here I think they are not worth the 20 quid extra that you would pay to get the XS compared to the others

everybody has their own preferences though ( I have never fished with a rio or cortland line for example)

I have heard good things about Snowbee lines. We don't see too many of them here is South Africa, as the local agents tend to focus more on the Snowbee accessories , rather than their actual fishing equipment... pity though, I think they have some nice stuff.

I use the Snowbee XS wf7 floating and it's a good line. Been using it now for big waters for last 2 seasons, into it's 3rd and still going well.

Default XS

The Snowbee XS is a flier of a line a real cracker but at £40+ it is pricey, i had one for several years

I did purchase a Pitsford Pirate floater 2 years ago and to be honest there aint much between the lines.....................oh except the Pirates line is £20+ cheaper

the Snowbee is my line of choice; in the WF#7 or #6 XS it's a good line and being a clumsy buggger (getting snagged up, standing on the line etc ) it does last a couple of seasons.

seems quite thin to me compared to cortland 444 and greys lines but i'm not sure it makes any difference.

however, being a very average caster, i do struggle to turn over light or heavy flies on a long (16ft) leader unless the wind is low or at my back shorter leaders help in the wind.

nice line to cast and fish with but mine seems to have started to crack on the running line after only about 6 outings

My experience of the xs is, it tends to get "pitted" with small dots along its length, which gives the appearance of cracking.

The line was changed some years back, with the diameter of the running line increased, to prevent cracking where the head meets the running line.

I preferred the older models to be honest.
