Default Opinions on Shakespeare Odyssey XT

As the title says, I am interested in peoples opinions on the Shakespeare Odyssey XT 3 piece rod 9' #6 and their Alpha reel to match.

I currently use a Greys GRXi 10' 7/8 outfit, generally from the bank at Elinor & occasionally at Grafham, and thinking about something a little bit more delicate, a little less effort but also cheap

Thanks in advance

Mark

I have an Alpha reel and the spool doesn't fit very well. I've had problems with trapped lines and lost a couple of fish. I may have been unlucky with this particular reel but I'll be changing it as soon as I can afford a decent one.

I've got two Shakespeare rods, a 9'6" stillwater rod and a 7' river rod and they've been fine.
The bigger rod has had repeated problems with the tip ring coming loose, but it's easily fixed with some Zap-a-Gap.
Having said that, they were ridiculously cheap - less than £20 each - so I wasn't expecting much.
They'll probably see me through this season and I'll look to replace them with something with a bit more quality at year's end.
If you're on a tight budget you can't go wrong with Shakespeare.
Can't comment on the reel, I'm afraid.

We stocked the original Odyssey rod for a long time and thought it was a very good rod for the money

The XT is even better, better fittings, better cosmetics and now comes with a proper rod tube. It is an excellent value for money rod and is really hard to fault

How does the Trion and the Trion XT compare with the Odyssey?

iv had a shakespeare waistcoat for 16 years, still no intention of replacing it. £20 well spent!

Shakespeare odessey and odessey xt rods represent excellent vale for money and perform as well as if not better than most of the sub £100 rods on the market. How they do it for the price beats me.I would team it with an okuma airframe reel unfortunately their budget reels are not quite as good as their budget rods.
