Default Greys GRX vs Sonik SK4

Hi.....I'm thinking about upgrading on the rod front & considering the above, 9' 6", #7/8. I'm going to be fishing highland lochs for wild brownies most of the time, both bank & boat (mostly bank) with the odd trip to fisheries for rainbows.

I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the relative merits of the two and /or suitable lines for them.

Thanks

I wouldn't be surprised if they are both made in the same Chinese factory. Nothing wrong with this, but there are only a handfull of Chinese rod manufacturers, and literally hundreds of house brands.

For peace of mind, and better back up, I would go for the Sonik over the Greys.
There again the Sharpes the Gordon 2 beats them both IMO.

If I was fishing for wild brownies on wee highland lochs I would use a 5 or 6 wt. No need to throw the line to the horizon, although the 7/8 would be better into a wind.I suppose it depends on if the rod is going to be used elsewhere. The older grxi is a cracking rod altough its a 3 section.(I think thats why its better)

Not such wee lochs & oh that there'd be no wind! Hence thinking of the slightly heavier rod/lines.
Am now intrigued by the Sharpes Gordon option.....don't know if my local shop stocks them - they were offering a decent package of rod/reel/lines & I kinda like to support the local dealers when I can (as long as bankruptcy doesn't end up looming!).
