I am spending a few days in the Lake District next week with the wife and kids. We have a few walks planned a bit of a bike ride in grizdale and plenty of cakes in the tea rooms. Hopefully I will also be able to sneak in a couple of evenings fishing. I have searched the forum and
www.lakedistrictfishing.net seems to be the popular recommendation. As I only fish small rivers at home, mainly the River Dove at Milldale, all my tackle and knowledge is geared around it, (short rods, small reels and 3/4 wt lines) for this reason i would say that probably all of the still water is out of the question, correct???
So I have looked through the above site and they appear to have access to two small rivers, The Rothay and The Brathay, both close to where we are stopping just outside Ambleside. By the looks of it you can by a day ticket from a number of places for only £8, a bargin.
Has anyone fished either of them, any good? I'm not after dozens of record breaking fish !!!
Anywhere else near Ambleside worth considering??
Thanks in advance,
Phil
