Default Cramond Angling Club

I normally fish for pike and occasionally flyfish. As I live in Edinburgh i decied i should make use of the Almond so i recently bought a Season Permit. The reason I am "blogging" on this is because i have signed up to the club's own private forum but I do not hae the privileges to start new topics. So my question is ( as i am new to flyfishing) Is my gear suitable for the river. I will be fishing for Brown Trout most of the time.

I do not have the money right now so all my gear is cheapy ebay ****. Here's my list:

Shakespeare Odyssey 2 Piece 5-6#
Cheapy Fladen 5-6 AFTM Reel .
Rubbish WF Floating Line
A 6X Tapered Leader
and Matching 6X Tippet.

My Fly Box Consists of (Mainly Size 14 and 16's):
Pheasant Tail Nymphs
Gold Ribbed Hares Ear
Iron Blu Dun
March Brown
Foam Beetle
Coch-y-Bonddu
Klinkhammers (Size 20)
Black Gnats
Snipe and Purple
Adams
Grey Duster
Greenwells Glory
Greenwells Nymph
Greenwells Spider
Invicta
Midges
Various Olive Patterns
Few CDC F Flies
Partridge and Orange
Partridge and Yellow
Black Spider
Olive Spider

Any Hints, Tips and Feedback would be much appreciated.

for almond trout fishing, more than adequate.
get a couple of poly leaders, one intermediate one medium sinking, a spool of 6lbs floro, and you will be fine.
later in season, june , july, bigger sea trout appear, so you might need some sea trout flies up to size 8, even later sept/oct salmon appear, so you might need some salmon flies, but rod/reel and flies you have are adequate for the trout/sea trout.
Fish streamy sections into heads of pools, and you will pick up fish on gear you have.
regards
bert

What you have is more than adequate in fact the biggest brown trout last year was caught on an odessy 2 piece 8ft6 (3lb 4oz).The action on that rod is ideal for roll casting.
Your flies are fine ...I would add some size 12 nymphs and some sea trout flies as they are due in the river about now.In fact a 3lb seatrout was caught on Sat past.
I am down most days give me a shout and I will show you the river.

The same situation returns once you are retired, but with the benefit of experience.
