Default Thank you and hello

I am new to fly fishing and have been trolling this forum for a while trying to pick up some tips. I do a lot of sea fishing & coarse fishing and like to think i am a good angler. I decided to kit myself out with some fly gear and my plan was to try for Bass and Mullet in summer. I told one of the chaps in my club my plans and he asked me to join him on a trout lake to practice casting and getting used to the gear. I thought i would try and get some pointers by trolling the net and came across this site and began reading back. Well the day was set we went to Stocks res and hired a boat, started off with lures fritz & cats and was just getting nips, then remembered reading a post on buzzers. Well i put a plain black buzzer on the line and first cast was into a fish YAY first fish on a fly. By the end of the day i had 7 fish, not huge biggest about 3lb and every one pulled my arm off. Now i am hooked and we are planning trips all summer, next 1 on Friday at Barnsfold. I would just like to thank everyone for sharing tips and hints on the forum so newbies like myself can try new things out.

Welcome Shiro,
and well done on the day out!
the beauty of the internet! you learned in a few hours "trolliing sites" information that would take years to learn fishing on your own.
More importantly, you read, learned, and put into practice said information. Well done!
wish there was a few more like you!!
enjoy you season m8, should b good.
regards
bert

Welcome Shiro, you will find the sea a far more demanding prospect than stillwater trouting, fun when you get it right, tough going when you don,t, but a challenge well worth the effort. Enjoy the often very steep learning curve!

Good stuff. Quite a bit of information on this site about Barnsfold. Good venue. It can get a bit windy up there, so wrap up warm and if strong winds are forecast, expect casting to be tricky.
Tight lines.
