Default Church Farm at Mursley

Anyone have any up to date info on this place - it used to be called Church Hill Farm.

Sunject has come up a few times according to search over the last few years but nothing of late.

Would be grateful for any news from fellow forumites.

Cheers in advance

Chris, Rib Valley have fished a match there the last two years. It has some funny rules - single fly only, no flies over an inch long, no C&R, etc.

It is 4 fish kill, and we allowed anglers two fish in the morning and two in the afternoon. I had about 30 minutes fishing in total each of the last two years and last year I had top bag at 8lbs 10ozs (ie nothing bigger than 2.5lbs!). Small cat on a floater or slow inter.

At £35 quid or whatever it is now, it is a very pretty venue, but poor value and way too easy except for beginners.

I think you will find that this fishery has been the subject of discussion before. Search on FFF for previous threads.

That is very helpful - thanks.

Not my cup of tea in recent years but I have a guy who is struggling to catch at least last year, lives that way and I am trying to encourage him to get back into the game but the price may be an obstacle. Thank you for your time and info in the meantime.

Ware (Rib Valley) is one of those places that is very good but if you go when after it's been hammered you end up blanking which I did with a newbe a couple of years ago when I met you. The newbe never took the sport/hobby up!

Guess I need a stock pond for these lads. Can't you ditch the chicks and build a pond?

Yep been subject to quite a few discussions in the past some of which I have joined in but little of late that I could find using search with the parameters of Mursley and Church Farm.

Chris, you are right about Rib - it blows hot and cold and quickly goes off so can be depressing for a new starter if they get the wrong day.

A place that may suit is Redbournebury

Home

I have never been there myself as it is very small and not the place for chaps like you and me Might be good for a starter though ?

I heard today that Vicarage Spinney, Near Newport Pagnell is once again open .... presently for season ticket holders only.

Apparently they're seeking planning permission to rebuild the 'lodge' and once they have onsite premises they'll reopen for day tickets.

If you are in St Albans I would say Rib or Thornwood are a safer bet.

One of my mates was at Thornwood yesterday and had a few and lost few in three hours fishing.
