Default Gailey,anyone fish it?

We are up that way,Bewdley,in late June on our annual barbel hunt.Always take in some fly fisheries. It appears that Gailey is around 45 minutes away.
Any info would be appreciated.
thanks

Hi there if your after some flyfishing around Stafford then check out Seighford Lakes: Home. Top class fishing and brilliant top of the water sport.

Haven't fished Gailey for some time but its not somwhere that's really grabbed me to be honest. Around Stafford your better options would be Seighford as mentioned, Loynton if that's your thing, or head in Telford direction to Ellerdine. Or there's Delbury Hall heading west - haven't fished there myself but heard good reports (think you might have fished it before??). I suppose there is Patshull as well but don't know that myself. Good luck with the barbel, I don't really fish the Severn but their Dove cousin's are proving a bit elusive for me I have to say!

I tried Delbury about 18 months ago on BN's recommendation and like you I really liked it. But I won't shout.

Following on...............I don't know how much longer Gailey will remain a trout fishery. The birdsnest ear to the ground tells me that British Waterways that control it are seeking to lease it out to carp syndication. I'll let you know if I hear any more.................birdsnest

Don't normally read the trout mags myself, but I'll keep an eye out for the D*****y article. Lovely place, never seems too busy, ( prob. change now... ), and the owners and anglers there always strike me as being delightfully courteous and helpful.
And I suppose you'll always have a soft spot for the place where you catch your first trout on the fly...
