Water Whitepaper - Our Rivers

As I am sure a lot of you know DEFRA is working on it's "water white paper" and it is extremely important all river users apply pressure to ensure that they go far enough in protecting our waterways.

Just receieved an email from the above campaign asking me to send a letter to the Minister for the Environment (letter is a template that you simply add to). Doing this took me minutes and hopefully if enough people make a noise about this important issues such as abstraction may be included in the white paper.

Hi, thanks for the heads up, I've bashed out a note to the guy to ask that the EA be pressured to look favourably on habitat improvement work also - there's a lot that can be done with a few willing bodies and local materials such as fallen logs, willow, etc and which needn't cost a lot. Look what they've done to the ruined streams in Ireland over the past few years and that gives some idea!
