Anyone doing the April crossword will find there's no clue to 8 across, I've e-mailed them and was told to ignore the clue and just fill in the rest.

I agree, that seems more likely. but to add to the lottery there are two rivers called e*e* in Cumbria -going for the better known one and when was the last time someone used *** as leader - that took me ages

Yes 28 across has 2 possibilities. This isn't the first time they've c*cked up the crossword lately. Poor show.
I can actually remember using *** leaders, or casts as we used to call them.
