Are you meaning sea fishing Bert?

I've only been to Coll once, about 15 years ago, but I don't recall any fishing for trout.

I've been to Tiree a few times and there are a couple of lochs there but, imho, they were a rip off for visitors @ £25/day. They used to do a reasonable weekly ticket but not now.
They are run by "the Estate" and I suspect they want to keep them for private use.

From my experience, I wouldn't plan to go to either island for fishing specifically. That's not to say don't go though as they are both beautiful places.

My uncle was the captain of the "Claymore" the ferry that did the Tobermory,Coll Tiree run, I spent many overnights on Coll/Tiree in my mid/late teens..........you are going to be fishing for mackies and pollock and getting rather healthily pished.
True story: When the Oban constabulary made a rare visit to the two islands in the 70's, the flag was hoisted upside down to warn the locals to hide the stills...pure class.
The Claymore ran aground in i think 1984 in perfect conditions......draw your own conclusions!!

I was there three years back and there is some trout fishing on the island. I recall driving a couple of miles out of the main town, Arinagour, and finding one loch on the left, then two on the right. There are only two main roads on Coll so you can't miss them.

I tried all three and found the second, bigger, loch on the right the best one. Didn't catch anything huge but plenty of sport.

From memory, I think I got permission to fish them from the Isle of Coll Hotel.

I believe there are also one or two lochs a bit of a hike from the main road, and it's also worth having a cast or ten in some of the little burns around the island.

Aye as the man says these lochs were rather good but back in the 70's/80's they were very much "private water" kept for the select few.(Pals of an absentee landowner)
I too fished the bigger one in the middle of the night and got into a bit of bother.I believe the situation has changed.

Coaster seems to be right. According to this permission is from the hotel.
