Default Taking a non-fishing female, need help please

I hope that i have not put this thread in the wrong place ,if so apologies. However, I am looking to take my parents away for a long weekend. My father and I are avid fly fishers but I also want to bring my mum(who doesnt mind being left behind the sweet dear). Does anyone know of a good place that has high quality fly fishing (still or river) and also a spa to occupy my mum. I am based in London, the closer the better but I am willing to travel if the place is worth it.
Thanks

Look up London Beach Country Hotel & Spa, Tenterden, Kent. There is trout fishing at Tenterden.

Have a googley thingy, at The Old Swan, Minster Lovell. Far enough from that there London, to feel like a proper escape, yet close enough for a comfortable drive.
Not sure if the spa is open yet. But you'll get access to the river windrush, close by you have Lechlade, Farmoor, Blenheim Palace.(Also Blenheim Palace is worth a walk round, if your mum is into historic buildings)

Hope this helps

Sean

The hotel may be good and T'den High Street is a nice looking place, but I think you might find the fishing a bit too limited for an entire weekend.

Which side of London are you?

Get them into fishing.....I have two daughters 16 and 21 they now pester me to take them out.
Downside.....financing the gear they want all the trendy stuff. They now fight over the John Norris clothing catalogues that come through the door
And a visit to the Scone Game Fair is now a wallet emptying experience

The Old Swan mentioned earlier looks nice.

The trouble is spa hotels and fishermen don't usually mix. I live in SW London so tend to head south or west on day trips, which isn't much use to you The spa hotels in Hampshire that I'm aware of which have fly fishing, like Lainston House, are usually seriously expensive - but you might get a special offer. You could base yourselves in Winchester and check out some of the many waters round there. It would mean getting across London but you could train from Waterloo and hire some wheels when you get there. The chaps on here would advise on the best waters.

Perhaps someone knows a good place in Essex or Hertfordshire.

PS Eastwell Manor just outside Ashford Kent has its own trout lake but no idea what it or the fishing are like.

Peter,

Stop moaning! You love the fact that they want to be there with you, and can converse about the gear! I know my daughter really enjoyed fishing with me as she was growing in to a young lady! She is now 31, and has no interest in fly fishing

Default Lake district

Maybe this is too far but me and my fishing partner had the same issue and we decided to book Center parcs in the lake district where our partners have a spa and swimming pool etc and we can fish the lakes and the wonderful looking river Eden as well as some still waters and reservoirs nearby!

Cheers
