Default Float tubers who don't do irony, look away now

In the light of its recently being party to a gross misrepresentation of float tube fly anglers, some of you may find it vaguely amusing that the Daily Mirror should now be making all the right noises about fishing, having just been declared 'official media sponsor' to coarse angling's Mega Match.

And some of you won't. I've vented here, for what it's worth.

Good on you.

I shall look forward to the Mirrors well informed and closely argued, in depth response to the points you make.

TWT,

What is the point your trying to make? The media publication are sponsors of an angling comp! And also published the Ban on float tube fishing in the north! Nothing ironic in that; they report on whatever news arises and may be of interest to the populous.

Surely the point is that they have a duty to report accurately.

They note that "We know many of our readers are keen anglers " but publish an article that is speculative, inaccurate in particulars and potentially highly prejudicial to at least one section of the sport.

It was the Daily Mirror which ran a campaign crucifying coarse anglers over lead shot and swans, an association which still lingers nearly 25 years after lead was banned.

What do you expect.

I wouldn't wipe my backside with the Daily Mirror, or come to it the Sun, the Daily Express or the Daily Mail.

No more than badly written comics.
