Default Must visit Reservoirs/Stillwaters

I'm writing a list of day ticket Reservoirs/Stillwaters in the UK that I must visit before
1) H&S shut them down
2)The Almighty shuts me down
3) The price of petrol makes travel impossible.

Any suggestions as to what should be on this list? (and what time of year)

If there is a similar thread in the archive, could somebody kindly point me to it.

Cheers
Bill

As far as Welsh Resevoirs go, I'd suggest:

Tal Y Llyn - Early to Mid May for the Olives
Llyn Clywedog - Mid to Late June for the Coch Y Bonddu Beetle
LLyn Brenig - Mid-late August for the Heather Fly
LLandegfedd - Sept/Oct for the back end bonanza.

That should give you a start.

Hi Bill,
Ryburn Reservoir above Ripponden near Halifax is a Brown Trout only water in a fantastic location, not that far from Sale. I am the Chairman of the club. The best fishing is usually during April to July and September. For more info visit the Ripponden Fly Fishers web site or PM me. We issue day tickets at 15.00.
Regards,
Gary.

Default Carsington Definitely

Around Derbyshire we have my all time favourite reservoir Carsington Water.
This is just a beautiful, magical place to fish and is stuffed with hard fighting fish. It fishes easily early but continues to fish well throughout the season if you know where the fish are likely to be.
I'm reluctant to move somewhere else because of this place.
I just love it.
Next on list, Loch Leven and Draycote with Rutland and Grafham not far behind.
Never fished Bristol Waters, Farmoor or Bewl so can't comment.
Also worth a mention are Blithfield Foremark, Thornton & Toft Newton.

The two most attractively located English reservoirs I have visited are Blagdon and Eyebrook. If you are at all interested in the development of reservoir fishing, Blagdon is "liquid history", so it's a must. Visit the place in May, June or September, and fish it from a boat.

I would suggest the following:

Rutland
Grafham - Both in the back end.
Avington - the original small stillwater and still beautiful
Lechlade - In the winter for a giant brown
Leven - Nuff said.
Corrib - Not UK but a must visit, imo
Awe. - the name says it all.

Buy a weekly ticket for Assynt, Everyone should go there before they pop their cloggs, even just to experience the scenery and the black pudding/venison sausages from the butchers in Lochinver.
A day up in the hill lochs then an evening drift down the road shore on Loch Assynt picking brownies off the skerries.. finished with a pint of Belhaven 80 in Inchnadamph......pure magic.

Blithfield (not too far for you) and Harray on Orkney.

Suprised I'm the first to mention these two.
