Default patterns for the pentlands?

After all the useful advice on venues around Edinburgh, now the next obvious question:

what are the most useful fly patterns for the stillwaters, and the recommneded ways to fish them? My only stillwater experience so far has been Rutland and Grafham, so any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks again,

Matt

I'd add buzzer's,diawls and damsels to that list, the buzzers and diawl's can be fished straightlining or in the buzzer's case under a indicator. The damsel can either be fished on a floating line long leader setup or intermediate

I would query the buzzers.
The indicator/float will have to be the size of a buoy to see it in the waves
Its very rarely calm enough to fish them static from a boat.
The places up there are wind tunnels with Glencorse and the Rigg being the worst. If its more than 15mph on met check in Edinburgh its usually a white knuckle ride up there. If it is calm enough the dries are the way to go.
when/If Glencorse reopens it has a great head of wild browns. As per your previous question about wandering up an having a cast.....You would be technically trespassing on a public water supply. The waterboard keeper lives in the cottage at the dam wall and his two big dugs are always hungry and the farmer at the top end has a pack of nutters masquerading as sheepdugs.
Word is out that somebody is going to take it on if the "board" splits it from Clubbiedean (The poachers paradise up from Bonaly).
