Sounds like he had every right to get annoyed.

Iv'e had this kind of thing happen to me on a few occasions over the yrs and i think he has every right to be p1ssed off.
The bit that bothers me is the advice as it's wrong it should be SIT STILL

And why if he knows them by name did they do it to him in the first place?

Neil

Not the first time this has happened to me also. Real pain in the Ar** Some and I say some boat anglers think they can do no wrong.

last Friday at Arnfield I was fishing from the bank (one of the lawned areas down from the fishing hut) and was catching a few fish. That is, right unit you and your boat partner sailed right up in front of me and anchored some 30 yrds from my position (probably even less - I could have cast my fly into your boat). If that wasn't bad enough, you and your friend then started rattling around like a box full of spanners, knocking the side of your boat with the anchor chain, your landing nets, rods, feet and just about everything else. After that, I didn't catch anything there and had to move on.
Same happened to me on Stocks opening day last month in Hollins Bay - only they came right across my cast to within a rod length of the bank. When I said "excuse me I was casting just there" I got " look mate we've paid £250 to fish today".

"£250 ???" - I had to laugh - but held my ground.

Repsonse was "erm well that's between our 2 boats" They then proceeded to noisily up anchor and move to a less busy area only yards away and still almost beached on the shore. (more noisy anchor rattling).

Then their anchor got stuck and they motored round in circles in thigh deep water to try to free it - again across several anglers casting arcs.

Not only was it poor etiquette, but the presumption that their money was better than mine in some way was a bit off. My own thought was I'd only paid £17.50 for a c/r ticket and was catching the same fish.
(Actually I caught and released 3 fish during their sojourn whilst they looked on - divine justice - lol)

They returned later in the day - motored in to the bay at speed, missed the motor cut off and consequently beached the boat halfway up the shore - this time I was watching from further away and ROFLMAO was the order of the day.......

Recounted this to an experienced Stocks boat angler later on who confirmed - yes - they were indeed "out of order".

Didn't spoil what was my best day yet on Stocks but just shows - I don't think it's anything to do with "boat anglers" - it's just manners thats' the issue eh?

I am a boat angler and this behavour is disrespectful and usually done by ignorant people who are not regular boat users. The same type of person is often found anchored in the best drift and then wonder why they are getting dirty looks from every angler trying to avoid them.

The only cure to this is off with their goolies or a torpedo into the hull of their boat. I'd go for the goolies myself as I could then feed them to the fish or use them as bait

The majority of boat anglers are very consious of both other boat users and of shore anglers.

Personally I wouldn't come near a shore angler if at all possible.

Regards,

Ray.

I know that nobody wants confrontation when out for a bit of fishing but sometimes there is a limit to what one can put up with. Surely there was somebody in charge of the fishery that a formal complaint could be lodged with. That kind of disrespect and downright ignorance has no place in this world and shouldnt be tolerated.
