Default is it just me,

bit of a story this one so please bear with me ,
last year whilst fishing a cracking little pool on the dove , an old boy turned up behind me , seeing that i had risen nothing in about an hours fishing i gave way and invited him to take my place ,so off i trotted down river ,
on my return he was still there , had anything i said , yes he replied a beautyfull brown trout of about 3lb, wow i replied nice one,
its there he said !! and so it was under a cloth on the bank ,
i think that by the look on my face he felt that he had to defend himself , saying that he diddent like killing them or even like trout to eat , but his next door neibour did ,
to me thats a crying shame!!!

anyway to the present been fishing today and in the report book someone had caught two grayling over 12 inches in length and killed them both ,
to be honest i was gutted ,

These are the same tossers who complain that "There's nothing in the river", having killed their bag limit every day.

It's a different thing with stockies, but wild river fish should be returned in my opinion.

I tend to give them that look too, when I see a Tesco bag of dead fish.

A look like someone has just p1ssed in your drink..

Anglers need to wise up, if they want to have wild fish in the future.

No offtop its not just you unfortunatly I`m sure we`ve all come across stories like these and just got to keep believing these people are a minority theres got to be more to fishing than just catching fish.

couldnt agree more .......

we have a little river that i fish with Stillwater angler(fred) they have a 6 fish limit on that water and we've seen some belting fish taken from it and these are not stocked fish either ............ education is a wonderful thing and sometimes the owners of these stretches are the ones that need the education ...

Ahh But,

Did Fred tell you that he went direct to the chairman and kindly informed him that a six fish per day kill ticket was absolutley ridiculous !!!!! and in Freds opinion this ' old school pants type ticket needs to get real '.

I also went on to clarify that i have fished this river for close on 30 years and now we do not see the stamp of fish we once did....... thanks to the greed merchants which have been wipeing out the big gene fish.........

We now have total catch + release in place ........

{ please note, this is not the water on offer with me in the auction }.

Whilst walking our beat on the Conwy I happened across a new member who was fishing a well known salmon pool with a ledger and a few worms, now this guy wasn't a kid, he was easily into his fifties. "Anything doing?" I asked, "Aye I've had a few" came the reply. I was somewhat taken aback by the reply, as I didn't expect any salmon to be taken given the conditions. "Can I see them" I asked, to which he pulled out a plastic bag from his tackle bag and tipped out about a dozen salmon parr and small brownies, then the bit that really took the biscuit he says "Yeah, I don't eat them myself but the cat loves them".

BANNED. I nearly kicked him in bloody river.

These fish takers are everywhere! I think all clubs and associations should impose a total CATCH & RELEASE POLICY and only BARB-LESS HOOKS to be used!

Isn't the key sustainability and depending on the state of different waters different policies can be adopted. Some (many) of those in a poor state will obviously need the help of a C&R policy but not all will.
Disclaimer: I return most of my catch but am not opposed to taking the odd one or two a year for the pot rules permitting (forcing).
