Default dropper question

when using a dropper which tag end do you use the one towards the point fly or the other many thanks garry

It really all depends on the knot you use to attach the dropper. If you are using a surgeons knot, or waterman knot, the tag pointing towards the point It is probably stronger, but there is a schood of thought that says the tag pointing towards the top, will help keep the dropper away from the main line. I however doubt that this is a major factor, especially on light tippets.
I try not to use surgeorns knots anymore, as I far prefer the dropper loop method, with one of the tags snipped off. It all boils down to personal preference I suppose, so try all methods and see what you prefer.

Never heard that before and have always been told/read/video never to use the end that points towards the line as it weaker.Have you any ref to this?

Cut the tag nearest the flyline.

Have always used the tag pointing up towards the line Was the way I tied my 1st ever dropper and never thought I was doing anything wrong , might have to have a re-think

I would as this is much weaker than the end that points towards the fly,must have something to do with a) the way the knot is formed or b) the way a fish pulls against the knot.Either way cut the tag end off that points towards the line

Really did`nt think I was doing anything wrong, makes me wonder what other basic mistakes I have in my locker
