To All,
I have not posted much on this branch of the forum if at all, however I would like to let people here know about a charity auction which I will be running in the next couple of weeks to raise money for a very worthy organization, the Hospice.
I have recently had 1st hand experience of the amazing work that this organization carries out when it comes to terminal cancer patients and their families. The branch of the Hospice which I had exposure to was in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa and it was my father inlaw with terminal cancer. The work they do is not something I think I could ever manage, having to deal with terminal patients and the families must be an incredible drain emotionally.
What also makes this truly amazing is that they don't ask for anything in return and most of their funding is minimal and from donations most of the time. To this effect I have decided to run a charity auction with all proceeds going to this branch of the Hospice, as with the exchange rate very much working in favour of GBP to ZAR the money we can raise in GBP will really go a lot further than if they were trying to raise it in the local currency (currently it is roughly R10.00 to £1).
I have already had offers of a large stillwater fly selection to be donated from the good people at TAFFBARGOED FLIES and Gary from West Yorkshire Fly Fishing Services will offer a days guided fishing on the River Nidd in Yorkshire and 3 dozen assorted flies. I am really hoping more will be added to the overall package and we will be contacting some additional suppliers to see if they will also be willing to donate to this auction.
If you would like to donate flies etc... then please do get in contact with me either via PM on here or drop an email to
flyauction@38boxes.com with the subject line Hospice Auction.
The auction will be run on the FlyAuction website and the details of when the auction will be taking place will be announced over the next couple of weeks.
Many thanks to everyone in advance.
Regards,
Peter Louw
