Default Uninvited guest eating my flies!

Cleaning out the fly boxes for this coming season and found this little b@gger!
Any ideas what it is? Moth grub?
Has destroyed a few flies in the box and was holed up in a burrow of sorts(see pic).
Lots of black dots in the box, assuming these are excrement rather than eggs?

Apart from killing the grub anything else i need to do to stop any more flies turning to dust? Any more eggs likely?

Cheers

Mark

Moth balls, or change your fly boxes to ones that are completely sealed and make sure nothing untoward drops in them after every trip.

P.S, keep the maggot, could come in useful to save a blank

Not good, but at least it's not mites. If you can't get hold of Mothballs, supermarkets sell packets of stuff you can use too. Have a look in the cleaning section of supermarkets & look for the bug sprays etc. I know Morrison have a few things. You should find little packets of stuff that you just leave inside you boxes or tying materials. I think it's 'Raidon', sold as stuff you can hang in the wardrobe. Seal your boxes in a bag along with this stuff for a week or two & all should be fine. Then put it in beside any tying feathers/skins you have for good measure!

Tight Lines!

He couldn't get an invite to the "Ugly Bug Ball" so he decided to keep your (to good to be true) imitation bugs company for the winter! No idea what it is though! Moth sounds good, well eventually?

You could always follow the grubs life cycle and keep it in a tank.

Too late for that megaflies, after having it's picture taken it's life came to a swift end!

Looks like it was a clothes moth grub which eats cloth and a host of other materials, hares ear and partridge wing it was particularly fond of!

Will try naphthalene crystals first, read that freezing works but any fishing tackle entering the wife's domain usually results in a headache for me!
