Default Most versatile line sinking speed

What would be he best sink rate for a line if you could only carry one sinking fly or to put it into my own context, the pocket money wouldn't stretch for 2 lines

Not knowing the sink rate but for versatility I always found the old Wetcell II was the best. Someone on here might be able to tell you with what equivalent line, Scientific Anglers have replaced it...

Hopefully...

If I had to pick 2 lines it'd be a floater and a fast inter, but then I fish mainly from the bank, so dont often find myself in a situation where I need anything else, not being of the Di7 + booby persuesion

Thats from the bank or a Di5 from the boat.

Oi! That's a presumption... what about river fishing?

I'm told the Wet Cel II DT #7 was the perfect sea trout line. I don't think it was much faster than fast-glass clear intermediates, perhaps close to modern type 3 lines but with uncompensated tips.

I thought it was.

Unless regularly csting into deep water I'd say a Type-3 would be best for lake shores... sink tips would be another route, but sometimes harder to cast.
