Default Yorkshire River Fishing

Where is a good place to base yourself in order to get to most of the good fishing rivers in Yorkshire?

I think I'll stick to Yorkshire. Too many crossdressers down in hell at the other side of the Pennines

Plus I really fancy fishing on all of Manchesters magnificent rivers...

Boggart Hole Brook, Chorlton Brook, River Irksome, River Irkwell, Mersey urgh!

York sounds like the Pearly gates to me. Maybe even Leeds. That's a much classier city than Manchester.

Leeds is a good central location. However do look back towards manchester, otherwise you will miss out on the rivers calder, colne and holme, around halifax and huddersfield, all three are cracking rivers with fishing at very reasonable cost.

Just had a couple of nights staying near Thirsk. Pretty as a picture and the rivers looked fabulous.
Went into a shop selling tackle at a nearby town - all I could see was 2oz weights and feeder rods. Tried another shop which said "fishing tackle" - no fishing tackle but a load of 12 bores.
Made me wonder how they go about catching game fish up there.

Lovely rivers, totally wasted on Yorkshiremen.
