Shocking service from Troutfisherman Magazine/Bauer
I have always enjoyed reading this magazine amongst others but have always steered away from subscriptions, this was until September last year when they were offering a Wychwood competition fly box as a free gift with a years subscription, I was straight on the net as there was only 4 days left until the offer ended as I hadnt bought the magazine as soon as it came out,
Later that month my 1st magazine arrived, 1 month later my 2nd magazine arrived but still no box, thought I would give them a ring only to be told I had subscribed after the deadline for the offer, I asked the person on the phone what date they had me down as subscribing and was told "the 24th of september" I then told them that it stated in the mag that "offer closes September 29th" "oh sorry about that I will get a box ordered for you, shouldnt be more than a week, maybe 2 but definately within 28 days"
Another couple of months go by, still no box,
Ring up again only to be told there was no record of the previous conversation so went through hole saga again,
About 6 weeks later (today) a Richard Weatly flybox drops through my letter box with no letter or any identifying marks on the envelope,
Rings Bauer up on the offchance it was a mistake to be told, "you were too late for that offer so we have sent you a suitable replacement"
Now I know they are both flyboxes but at the complete opposite ends of the scales, So was not happy at all, I asked if I could send it back after I had explained to them again that the 24th of September is before the 29th of September, only to be told sorry we cant get those boxes anymore,
OK I said I will just cancel my subscription and send you the box back, "Oh I will have to check you can do that"
30 seconds on hold later " OK we will let you cancel and send us the box back"
Total flyfisher magazine it is from now on then
