But the hat looks like it has an Atlantic Salmon on it and the writing may be "Bergen." Where ever the heck that is?

Again, just rumor here, but that looks like a controller unit for a mattress pad heater. Looks like setting of '4' out of '6' even with a heavy coverlet over his 'south end.'
