Default Albury estate

Am heading down to Weston on the albury estate tomorrow. Am going to try a buzzer (have never fished one properly before). Should I use co-polymer for the leader and how long should it be?
Thanks
Alex

Hi Alex, why hobble yourself before you get there!!?

Fish buzzers if the conditions are right for them, and if not, try something else.. Ive fished albury a number of times, and while a lot of people like it, i'm not a fan. i find it very expensive for what it is, although they do let you come back with your unused tickets..

As for Weston, fish the car park end, it's deeper and always holds the good fish. on the smaller lake, most of my fish have come from the bank facing the road.

Whether you use co-polymer, flouro or mono will have almost no effect on the fishing at Weston.

One thing, they used to let you roam on a ticket between Weston, Vale End, and Powdermills, that's well worth doing.

Default Buzzers at Weston

Hi Alex

There are 3 lakes at Weston and I fished the smaller one called Wood lodge pool on Saturday. It is the lake farthest away from the car park, at the end of the main lake. I had a couple out to 3lb on an olive buzzer about midday, the water was clear and you could target the fish, they were just sub surface and at times were quite lively and at others dormant, which would indicate a sporadic hatch going on although I could not see anything.

Just put out a line over them carefully and let it sink, if they are going to take it will be soon after it lands. Well it worked for me, so good luck. I also missed a couple of pulls on a spider, so thats worth a go as well.

There is always the Albury banker, the Blue Flash Damsel, if things dont work out!

Best of luck, the way the weather is you should have a good day.

All the best

Don't fish it nearly as much as i used to,mainly due to the escalating ticket prices, although you have the option of using any uncaught fish tickets.
Onetick's put you well in the picture .
The small pool at the top end is ok-just,its too small really ,ok for a couple of anglers at most, but it gets hammered. The main lake at the far end and both far end corners are worth a fling, looking back down the lake to the right hand bank is an small inflow, always worth a look there.Car park end seems to always have fish, however they do get targeted a lot there though. The lower pool behind the car park never seems to attract as much attention.Swims to the immediate left and right of the near end always hold fish, that's where they go in.
Buzzer is worth a go(reports are that the fish are on them) ,you can fish one under a bung if you wish, can easily alter depth to suit and just allow it to drift in the breeze with an occasional draw or tweek, along with damsels and cats and sunk daddies/hoppers tweaked back can be very good and if all else fails, egg flies.Don't forget you can always pop up to Vale End if its tough at Weston, which it can be,its not always an easy touch.Have a good day Powdermills is closed by the way.

Alex

You should drive straight past Albury and head, instead, to Frensham which is about 15mins past Guildford down the A3. Beautiful fishery with 3 small lakes and a few small ponds set in lovely countryside full of trees.

Or, head to the Surrey/Sussex border for Hazecopse which can fish well on black buzzers. Just be careful those fish dont pull you in or that Wilf shews your ear off sounding off about EA Officials

Albury? My Erse at those pirces and no C&R allowed!

As Ben says
Hazlecopse, £ 20 per day c&r good value, how can those fish fight so hard for their size?

Hazelcopse is fine except the size.Even midweek it can get busy and many will not budge from the same spot all day long.Did well there last year, however some of the regulars fish handling left A LOT to be desired,in fact deplorable!!!!.
Albury is /has got pricey, but you do get to return for a tenner to use any unused tickets, provided you hold 4 to start with.Far superior scenery wise than Hazelcopse and there is some stream fishing on offer,at £42 for four fish however and likely to rise again in April it does not get my attention as it used to.
Alex, out of interest do you fish Arlington Resie?
