Default Experience with Jan Siman webshop?

Hi everyone,

Firstly, this is in no way a "slab the dealer" thread, so please bear that in mind.

Anyway, I do a lot of shopping on the internet. Almost every week, and I have never been let down or been cheated in any way. In late january 2011 I made an order at siman.cz. They charged my credit card right away, but until now I have not heard anything from the shop. I've mailed them numerous times for a status on the order, but I have not gotten any response

I find this a bit disturbing, as there are no "out of the office" info on the website, and I think three weeks without responding to my inquiry unsatisfactory. I don't think in any way that I've been cheated, but I do find the silence from Mr. Siman a bit odd.

How are your experience in doing business with Mr. Siman?

Same here. He even sent a Xmas present to someone I know and it arrived mid January. He has good gear, not that cheap, but top notch stuff and it will turn up. Yeah, His communication skills are not all they should be.

Likewise I had to wait a while for my order, but it was no surprise. He was pretty good at telling me when it was going to be dispatched and when it had been dispatched. I received it very soon after he told me it had been shipped. I would use them again.

I bought quite a bit of stuff a few years back when I was experimenting with CZN. A few of his very expensive ready made nymph/dry/streamer kits as well as his bespoke service, also his leaders etc.
All tying orders took much longer to arrive than expected (however on reflection this is not out of the ordinary when you consider there is a lengthy estimated delivery time on premium bespoke tyers such as SpidersPlus). One one email reply he said that the orders were tied on request, and not able to be delivered from a batch of premade flies, as you would with Sportfish, etc.
You've got to expect this for custom work; there's a queue of orders to process before yours is able to be started, much like multi-month or multi-year delivery times for hand made canes or bench made reels.

Strange ...

I stock some of Jan Siman's products and have found his comminication to be just fine, with a speedy dispatch of items.

Try emailing again - I'm sure that Jan will sort things out for you.

Kind regards

Phil,

I've sent 5 emails in 3 weeks. That's enough in my humble opinion

Steve,
Of course custom items are to be expected to have a longer delivery time, but the items I've ordered were tungsten weights and thread. Nothing fancy. Only about 30€ in totalt, but still.

Strange thing is, as I write this post I've got a response from Siman letting me know that my order is on its way (sent feb 21 2011). Some items are still not in stock, but he'll send them when possible.

Thanks guys for your input.

Strange. I do not recall confirming to wait for a complete order, and secondly I did not cancel the backorder - you did that yourself without my knowledge or consense - on this board apparently, although you've sent me an mail today at 10am saying "your order had been sent on 21.2.2011 via airmail post. There is missing 1x dyneema thread (still out of stock), I will send it asap as soon as it will be available."

Jan, it doesn't make any sense if I would have confirmed to wait for a complete order, and then you would send me some of the items after three weeks, and offering me to resend the backorder items later.

My order status on your homepage says:
--
Sent on 2011-02-21
Registered airmail post
missing dyneema thread - backordered, paid.
--

From jan 29th 2011 till this day I have not heard anything from you.

I have however, asked you to cancel the order, but to that inquiry I didn't get any response either.

I'm looking forward to receiving my ordered items (also the backordered Dyneema), but I do find the way you do business and communicate strange and very unorthodox.
