I have a preconception that all river fishing in Scotland is ruinously expensive and dominated by tweed clad lairds wielding 14 foot spey rods - please dispel my fears!
Thanks very much in advance.

Dispel your preconception! Plenty of choice of
high quality wild trout, Upper Tweed, £30 year (google Peebleshire Trout Fishing Association), Tyne, £25 year, (google East Lothian Angling Association (includes sea trout), Almond (Cramond Angling Club) - upland reservoir fishing in the Pentlands and Lammermuirs and a host of smaller streams/burns which you should have fun finding out for yourself.
