Question Furled leaders for dry fly fishing

Has anyone used furled leaders for dry fly fishing and do you prefer them to normal nylon tapered leaders ?
Also where do you get them from?
Just looking at trying it out this coming season .

Any info would be great

Thanks

Steve

Use them all the time, great bit of gear. There are quite a few places to get them. Mrtrout on the forum does them. If you look in the Lets Tackle Cancer thread he has some up for auction.

Phil at Spiderplus can supply them also, Made by Rod Dibble.

Not up for auction anymore as they're sat in my leader wallet waiting for a day when the river's not coffee.

PS They're not usually £10 each!

Be careful to avoid knotting them, if you have a break off / spring back etc check them for knots straight away, you can tease knots out with a needle (sometimes) but best to catch it early.

Bit of floatant on them every now and then - that's it, should last you ages.

If you do a search on here using "furled leaders" you'll find loads of opinions. IMHO, yes, excellent for dry fly work and as has been said, Steven (mrtrout) makes and sells them, pm him for info

I don't use them all the time but they are great for increasing your accuracy in tight spaces. I became a convert after fishing with Stuart Crofts - a master exponent.

As has been suggested, load them up with floatant - I find the red mucillin works best.

I use dibble furled leaders for my small stream and river fishing, really good bits of kit!

Like many here I use Mrtrouts fine knitting; and prefer them to nylon - they turn over much sweeter.
They really are the canine testicles.
(I'm sure Mr Dibble's are equally good)
