Hi,

I fish Mere Beck occasionally.

The methods I use are subject to the conditions. There is usually plenty of dry fly action, buzzers work well, as do lures fished deep in bright conditions.

There is a website for Mere Beck, http://www.merebeck.co.uk/ and the Catch Record will tell you what has been catching.

Have a look at the post by 168bill on Fishing near Southport

I wouldn't just focus on one lake but keep moving to cover the different lakes.

Hi Jags,

There aren't to many lakes around Merseyside, have you considered or looked at;

Stocks http://www.stocksreservoir.com/reports/index.htm it's well worth a visit.

Walkerwood Fishery in Newton Le Willows - is stuffed with fish, but personally I don't like the fishery and the track down is horrendous.

Westlow Mere - just outside Congleton is a lovely fishery and run by Congleton Fly Fishers http://www.go-fish.co.uk/venue_1653.htm there's always space to wander around!

If you live around Meresyside then consider looking towards Chester and North Wales,

Meadow Fishery at Mickle Trafford is a nice fishery, though it can be hard work at times http://www.meadow-flyfishing.co.uk/

I would agree with Moustique, don't focus on a single lake, keep moving, I find that different lakes produce at different times, so if one goes quiet try another.

Good luck.

Hi Jags,

Nice to hear you had a good day, Mere Beck really is a lovely fishery!

I had a day blanking on the Welsh Dee, after all the rain recently it was a little to coloured for grayling fishing, I should have paid Mere Beck a visit instead!

I'm going to have a go on here in the near future. Can I just ask how you fished the daddies? Did you use a gold headed variety?? And advice is greatly appreciated.
