Default Tippet rings and lined rings

Are those metal tippet rings safe for use with alconite rod rings in they are pulled down them?

Why would you be pulling tippet rings through your rod rings?

Yes, I know that they are of a diameter that would pass through rod rings, tip ring included, but it still begs the question ... why would you retrieve them through your rod rings, except perhaps to begin or end your fishing?

I wanted to know wether they would damage a rod with a full set of alconite rings if the were accidently pulled down them when fighting a fish for example

But surely you would have a dropper fly attached to the ring that would stop this happening anyway?

Other than when setting up and tackling down (when there is no pressure on the line and therefore no problem) I also can't see this happening. Even if you are fishing a long leader and single fly, you would normally have the tippet ring at the end of the main leader with just a shortish tippet or bottom section attached to it, which wouldn't be long enough to come back through your rod rings when landing a fish.

Roll Cast, I think the answer you're looking for is no. Ceramic inserts are harder than other materials used for rod rings. Ceramic may have the potential to be more brittle but I can't imagine a circumstance where bringing a tippet ring through the rings would cause you a problem.
