Default What is your dream fly fishing trip and who would you bring?

I think all fly fishermen have their 'trip of a lifetime' stuck back in their head. Myself I have several trips lined up in my head but one that comes to mind is fly fishing in Cuba for bonefish and big tarpoon.

For a fishing buddy I would take my wife with me.

Funny you should say that, being an Icelander.... I for one would come to your place (a month or so) and I would bring Kate Moss. Try to teach her to cast and if that won't work...plenty of time left to spend an unforgettable holiday.

Johan
Ps don't tell my wife

Default Dream Fishing

Has to be fishing for Wild Cutts' and Browns on the Snake in the US Rockies, couldn't take a fishing partner as mine is sadly deceased, but would've been Frank Sawyer, (showing my age now )
Having said that the local rivers take some beating really.

I hate to say it, but i've already fished mine. River Vatnsdalsa in NE Iceland. SIngle handed rod, small, intimate pools, big salmon, big sea-trout and fabulous food fishing under the midnight sun. Does it really get any better?

I would however love to chuck a flee into the Alta, or the Rio Grande, or stalk one of the big NZ browns, or watch a 150lb tarpon explode out of the water, or even have Avington to myself on a warm May day...

Cheers
Alex

Oh, and i'd bring anyone who'd appreciate it as much as I.

Default Where Would I Take A Dream Fishing Trip and With Whom

It would Have to be a wild river in Alaska for wild salmon, big rainbows and anything else in the water that likes flies. I certainly would NOT take my wife-already made that mistake not long after we first married on the Madison River, Montana. She didn't know which end of a fly rod to hold onto or how to tie on a fly. Days result-Wife 3 pound brownie, three 2 pound rainbows. Me-one brownie of two pounds. Enough said, but my fishing partner would be Neil Diamond. If the fish didn't cooperate at least we'd have a great singalong!

Default Venue - Big Bow River for starters

I'd spend my time in Canada fishing everywhere from the mighty Bow River to Alaska borders with April Vokey, Nick Pujic, Josh and co. Hopefully later this year! Might even take my wife and get April to show her the mighty spey casts on the Skeena and hook a few steelhead.

In the meantime have to put up with Golden Mahseer in the lower himalayas and superb brownies in Cressbrook & Litton on the day stretch and Driffield Beck as my UK venues, again with my wife all as a stop gap till the excitement builds for Canada..... I should be a very lucky swine this year !

I would have a 2 centre holiday with a week in Alaska on the Kenai river then head down to Montana USA to fish some of the Trout rivers on the dry fly. I would take Paul Young for the fishing banter and Kelly Le Brock for obvious reasons.

Cheers Diarmid.
