Default River in St Andrews?

I just got a prospectus from St Andrews University in the mail and have noticed that the university is located right on the estuary of what appears to be a lovely little river, however I've been unable to find out any information about this river, even it's name.

Can anyone give me any information about this river that runs by the university?

I'm assuming it's a wild trout, salmon and sea trout river?

Having just looked at google maps I don't think that the river that runs through the city is actually the eden, because the eden appears to enter the north sea to the north of the area I'm asking about, north of the city of st andrews. I'm curious as to the river that flows through the town, into a small estuary, correct me if I am mistaken.

I attended St Andrews myself, a few years ago now! But the only streams running through the town is the Swilkin Burn, thats the wee stream that runs throught the 18th fairway on the old course. There is also the Kinness Burn, which runs past the towns finest chippie (the Kinness fry bar!). Neither of which fishable I would have thought.

I've not seen the prospectus but I presume they have a photo of the Eden, its only 20 mins outside town on the bus, I think the university had a rowing/sailing club based there at some point.

Follow the two links in my signature to look at our clubs websites. If you are up here for an open day drop me a p.m. and i'll take for a day out on the Eden. The Eden estuary is fishable for seatrout with good sport around June, you will get there on the bus in 5 mins. But there is 19 miles of river mostly double bank with a few other privately owned beats to fish your way up. p.m. me if you want anymore info.
The small river is the kinnessburn which flows into the harbour, i've not fished it but there are plenty of wee trout in it. If you want small stream fishing there is a superb burn (with a run of sea trout too) not far outside St Andrews couldn't tell you about that on here though!
