Interesting...
Very unscientifically, I'm finding on thin stuff (0.10 Stroft ABR) the loop collapses before it breaks, no matter how hard I set the loop knot. On thicker stuff (3X Orvis Super Strong) the loop knot holds and the tag seems to be reasonably strong.
I did say very unscientifically

Do you think it would be strong enough for a dropper?

My quick test was only against the standing end of the knot, and depending on your setup it may need to be tested against the loop.
A couple of quick tests against the loop and it seems to generate the same results - collapse on thinner stuff (which scorches the line and weakens everything) and breaks on the tag end for thicker... the dropper was always weaker than the loop or standing end. Note: if the dropper breaks the loop unravels so you will lose everything below the loop.

With all the options for tying on a dropper this seems like a high risk approach but will work to some degree
My preference is a tippet ring, or if I've done any preparation then I use a dropper roller.
