Default Farmoor pike trials...........

Total Coarse Fishing Forum • View topic - Farmoor

Saw this thread on the P@P forum. Anyone fishing it ? I fished Farmoor a fair bit when I worked near it and never heard of or experienced any pike problems, anyone have a different opinion ? Permit prices seem a bit steep too but it seems to have sold out.
All the best,
Andy.

I fish the English Midalnd ressies very regularly and pike damage on trout is common. I have also fised Farmoor quite alot and never caught a fish with any sign of pike damage.....nor have i ever heard of any.......i'm not convinced there are any in there?

at £25 per bank ticket and £30 per person in a boat i cant understand that all the tickets have been sold, there are a few pike in there but also big bream and perch. what if a big brown is caught as can happen, i would rather have a trout ticket!! Thames Water seem to be taking the same line as other trout fisheries allowing pike fishing days, you can get a ticket at other pike waters in oxfordshire better than farmoor. maybe they dont make enough money on NO 1 RESERVOIR serves them right for hiking the rent up for that wonderfull fishing club FFFC having been on no 1 for many years and then **** on from the idiots that we pay our water rates too.

I've fished Farmoor 1 a fair bit over the last 3 years and I have only ever seen one pike. It was cruising a few yards out along the causeway and was maybe 8-10lbs.

Who can say, may be a right fatty in there, been gorging on the trout. Good luck to all, says I.

Still think it's silly money though. For what's supposed to be an experiment, test the water so to speak. £25-£30 buys a lot of river fishing around Oxford.

Who knows perhaps it'll move towards an all method fishery in the future, what with the proposed plans to build another reservoir just down the road.

Yup, the Thames is stiff with them.

I have fished matches on Medley Common where half your roach got nicked on the way in...................

I have a feeling not one pike will be caught, a few browns in the 5lb bracket perhaps, but that's about it, would love to have to eat my hat though.

Still its all about the expectation of what may be in there.

Rumours of a 30lb fish from Farmoor 1 back in the 80's taken on a jack frost on the drop, apparently, just goes to fuel the expectation.
