Default Thurso Caithness trip 10th April

Chaps,

Going to Thurso and planning a fishing trip Sunday 10th
April.

Looking for somewhere that is open for boat fishing on
a Sunday and also where the season has started (some
are as late as 1st May).

We were thinking of St. Johns but someone told me that
it can be a nightmare if windy and the water colours up
easily.

Any suggestions - what tatics for early April apart from
4 jumpers and three pairs of socks?

Cheers!!!

As Jedi said speak to Hugo. I would try toftingal, very shallow so great to fish both boat and Bank. Other option loch Calder but its better from the Bank early. St John's can be good but requires more settled weather.

early season means fish close in intermediate close to the shore with wets clan cheif, soldier palmer, small viva.

Hope this helps.

I fished St Johns a couple of years back in the first week of May, i fished from the boat , had a few fish , plenty top of the water sport but di3 and Shimmy landed me 2 fish verging the 3lb bracket. I have also fished Toftingal, again from the boat , plenty fish 3 hooks up at once were not uncommon , fish were in the half lb to three quarters of a pound range.

Regards

Aaron.

Default Thanks guys

Thanks a lot!

Will get onto my mate as its bound to be windy perhaps look to head
to Toft or Calder rather than St. Johns.

Can't wait just wish it was a bit later in the year!!!!

Thanks for the advice.
